GI Drain PKT Bontang
KALIMANTAN TIMUR, KOTA BONTANG
2022
The installation of the PVD GI-Drain at the Tanjung Harapan III in the Bontang Industrial Area, East Kalimantan is aimed to accelerate the land consolidation process. The volume of PVD installed at this location is 400,000 m2 on the area of 33,000 m2. The number of PVD points installed reached 26,230 points with an average PVD depth of 15 meters. This project experienced several challenges, such as high rainfall intensity, very soft land conditions, and complex land preparation, but our professional team was able to adapt and overcome these challenges.
GI-Drain is a geosynthetic tape that is planted vertically into the ground to speed up the consolidation process of soft clay layers. The GI-Drain core is made of Polypropylene (PP)/ Polyethylene (PE) material and is covered by a non-woven Polyester (PET) filter. The composite between the two materials makes the GI-Drain tape able to drain maximum water.
The GI-Drain consolidation system must be combined with conventional preloading (using landfill) and/or vacuum preloading. When preloading is carried out, the excess pore water pressure that occurs in the soil will be channeled to the surface by the GI-Drain towards the sand layer that has been laid before. As the excess pore water pressure is released, the property of the existing soft clay soil will increase.
GI-Drain is currently the best choice because GI-Drain is a high quality Indonesian product and has been tested both in the laboratory and actually in the field. GI-Drain is manufactured under good quality control, with high-quality raw materials so that it has a large flow capacity, high tensile strength, adequate filter permeability and permittivity with very small pore opening conditions (O95).
